"The Challenger"
I actually cut this out and started it months ago.  I painted it and threw it away about 3 times because I didn't like the results.  While I liked the face, I could never paint the body so that I liked it.

This time, I decide to go with a very loose painting of everything accept his face.  I built the background and just merged his fur into the background so it's almost not evident where the background is versus his fur.

I kept his eyes, horns and nose more realistic, but the rest of it is painted pretty loose.
The lighting on the original image was horrible, so loads of curves, levels and other adjustments to get the final effect.  But I finally got to a result that I'm happy with...   here is version four.
